Just a few handy debug commands that would be neat for the future:

  • it_follows list
(Lists all active curses and players who are chained to them)

  • it_follows advancements_clear
    (Clears advancements for it follows)

  • it_follows pause_curse
(Pauses the entity on the specific player)

  • it_follows PLAYER disguise DISGUISE
(Let's the player force a disguise on the entity)

  • it_follows advancements_clear: Use the advancement command
  • it_follows pause_curse: just use the stop command

The pause command isn't to stop the curse, it's to pause it. So liek, if the creature has become stuck, and you want to see where/how it's stuck without interfering with it, you use pause

Also possibly:

it_follows locator_curse
Which would add the creature to the players locator bar as a wee quality of life thing
